sourdough bread recipe.

There's nothing better than the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning...


500g strong white bread flour

7g pack of yeast

320ml warm water

pinch of salt


  1. Mix the flour, yeast and salt in a bowl.

  2. Slowly add the warm water, mixing it together as you go.

  3. When the water has been absorbed, use your hands to mould the dough into a ball. Be careful not to handle the dough too much.

  4. Cling film the bowl and leave in the fridge overnight.

  5. In the morning, take the dough out the bowl and place in an oven-proof dish lined with baking paper. Put baking paper on top of the dough also. Leave on the side for an hour.

  6. After an hour, preheat the oven to 180ºC and put the dough in, keeping the baking paper over the top. Leave for 30 minutes.

  7. Remove the baking paper lid from the top and cook for another 15 minutes or until golden on top.

  8. Leave to rest on a wire rack so it can sweat properly. Keep wrapped in baking paper between uses.
